Candidates for President Outline Firm Plans

By mid-year 2008 it will be clear which Republican and Democrat presidential candidates are most likely to run for office as the 44th president of the United States.

Who will headline Election '08? Senator John McCain (R-Arizona,) Senator Hillary Clinton (D-New York,) former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani (R-New York,) Senator John Kerry (D-Massachusetts)... or could it be you?

Think & Ask invited readers to submit their own platform speech for a national convention during Election '08 as they ready themselves for the final run of the 2008 campaign.

Some readers expressed their opinion that a presidential campaign is reserved for the current two-party system, and any effort to buck the two-party system would be pointless.

Nonetheless, some took the exercise seriously and laid out a campaign platform which is most important to their values as the 44th president of the United States.

So...flash ahead to the year 2008: In this hypothetical setting it has been an election year of vast political change in the United States. For the first time in history, with the Republican and Democrat party candidates' well-funded campaigns in place, a third party candidate has empowered the voters enough to potentially topple the two-party system. All three candidates are neck-in-neck in the polls.

• Presidential hopeful David Schwartz of New Jersey
  Candidate Schwartz proposes four "E"s: Education, economy,
  environment, and equal opportunity. He says laws are too
  restrictive, and he imagines alternative fuel sources to protect
  the environment.

• Presidential hopeful Richard Ciccarone of New York
  He seeks a one-term presidency. Ciccarone guarantees
  healthcare for all citizens of the United States; and he
  seeks to preserve a great society with a redesigned military
  and corruption-free Congress.

• Presidential hopeful Jeffrey Allen Miller of New York
  Ultra-conservative candidate Miller says he'll scale back
  government more than 70 percent and regulate the ills
  burdening society from corporations. Miller's platform ends
  federal income taxes.
